  • Paris Day Two

Saturday morning Kathy and I went over to Celia and Jeff’s AirBnB and from there headed over to the 16th Arrondissement to visit with old (97 years!) friend Martine at her apartment there. We brought croissants and Martine made tea and coffee and we reminisced about old times.

From Martine’s we went back to the AirBnB and snacked on baguettes, cheese, and charcuteries all afternoon.

We then went out to dinner at Bistro Régent Bastille, which was a very informal place with good food and beer. A great place for a huge crew: Ella and William had joined us from Aix, so we were fourteen people. We were lucky that we were eating relatively early so the room was pretty empty and we could all hear each other.

We checked into the hotel, leaving our huge suitcases in storage below. Our room was ready early so we crashed for a few hours before heading over to Celia’s AirBnB. Then we went out to dinner with the crew at Chez Moineau restaurant near Saint-Sulpice. Sam Kashti had gotten that suggestion from Stephane, a friend of Amatsia’s. Very nice meal there, though we were honestly too jet-lagged to remember what we ate. Looking at the menu afterward I recall that Kathy had the duck confit and I had the skate. I do recall that the crème brûlée was quite good!

Martha was carbo loading so had a fine bowl of linguini with truffle cream and parmesan.

Back to the hotel hoping for a good night’s sleep.

  • Thursday Departure & Paris Arrival

Ariana took us to the airport in our van and we had an easy time through security and onto the plane after a nice dinner at Legal’s. The flight was delayed half an hour, but they made up most of that time during the flight.

No problems through CDG. We made it through border patrol in record time and confirmed that Kathy has 180 days in the EU/Schengen region while traveling with me. Luggage was on the belt by the time we were through, and we caught a cab (prix fixe) into Paris to our Hotel Camelia Nation.
