Another Day In Paris

Took the train into Paris in the morning and walked along the canal Saint-Martin. The locks are a small ongoing performance — boats nudging in, water rising, gates opening — and we lingered to watch a cycle. (There’s a separate album just for the lock videos, if that’s your thing.)

One of the Saint-Martin locks — a slow, unhurried performance worth watching.

On the way to the canal we stopped by the beautiful Marché couvert Saint-Quentin. Lovely to see, but we had a mission.

The Lafayette exhibit was the day’s main objective: Thierry did the illumination, and we wanted to see it in situ. It looked great, and gave us something to talk about with him later. The exhibit was fascinating. We yanks don’t know our history as well as we should.

Lunch was a croque monsieur, which took Kathy back to her days at the Sorbonne. Then we walked back to the Gare du Nord, stopping for tea on the way and admiring the Mairie du 10e arrondissement.

Back to Coye for an Italian dinner out with Manou and Thierry a hop skip and jump from their house.
